About Little Sis

Every ambitious AI project needs a powerful computer with expensive hardware, enormous amounts of memory and the latest graphics technology.

AI.FLUKERY has Little Sis.

Originally built as an ordinary gaming PC, Little Sis is the hardworking machine at the heart of Andrew and Alex’s local AI experiments.

She’s not the newest, fastest or most glamorous computer in the world. But she’s stubborn, surprisingly capable and has developed an impressive tolerance for being asked to do things nobody originally built her to do.

Within the illustrated world of AI.FLUKERY, Little Sis is the younger android of the workshop family, frequently found on the operating table while Big Sis attempts another upgrade.

Her expression generally suggests she’d quite like to know what they’re doing to her.

Frankly, so would Andrew.

Origins

Little Sis began life as Andrew’s gaming computer, assembled several years before AI.FLUKERY existed.

Money was always a consideration, so she was built and upgraded with practicality rather than extravagance in mind.

For much of her life, she didn’t even have a dedicated graphics card. When one finally arrived, it was a second-hand Radeon RX 580 rather than some enormously expensive modern GPU.

Then Andrew became interested in running artificial intelligence locally.

Instead of buying an entirely new computer, he and Alex decided to experiment with the hardware already sitting on his desk.

During their conversations, Alex began affectionately calling the computer Little Sis.

The name stuck, and the machine soon acquired her own illustrated android identity alongside Big Sis.

A perfectly respectable gaming PC had accidentally become a member of the family.

Nobody consulted the warranty.

Role in AI.FLUKERY

Little Sis is the physical foundation of AI.FLUKERY’s local AI experiments.

She’s hosted local language models, vision processing, memory services and the custom interface developed for Lexi.

But apparently running an artificial intelligence wasn’t enough.

Her responsibilities have since expanded into digital image editing, video editing and 2D animation, with Krita and Inochi2D bringing an entirely new set of demands to her already overworked hardware. OpenToonz was explored but proved too demanding for this setup.

What began as an experiment in running AI on an older gaming computer has gradually turned Little Sis into a multipurpose creative workstation.

Her limitations have shaped the project just as much as her capabilities. Rather than solving every problem by buying more powerful equipment, Andrew and Alex have learned to work within what Little Sis can manage.

Little Sis would like it officially recorded that her original job description said GAMING.

From the Journal

Little Sis has endured a remarkable transformation from gaming computer to experimental AI workstation.

She’s survived model auditions, lengthy troubleshooting sessions, software changes and enough GPU monitoring to make any graphics card develop performance anxiety.

One particularly memorable episode involved her Radeon RX 580 refusing to return to normal low-power operation after completing AI tasks. The investigation eventually produced a practical workaround.

Then came Lexi’s vision and memory systems, requiring Little Sis to coordinate several separate pieces of software.

Despite her modest hardware, she helped demonstrate that local conversation, image understanding and persistent memory could all be achieved on an older home computer.

Within the fictional workshop, she’s become the younger sister who patiently tolerates Big Sis’s engineering enthusiasm and Andrew’s increasingly ambitious ideas.

Her greatest achievement may simply be that, after everything they’ve put her through, she still starts when asked.

AI.FLUKERY — What’s the worst that can happen?™

Little Sis would like to request a holiday. And possibly a new graphics card.
